Career Guidance Seminar with Terrific Technologies Empowers BBMIT Students to Dream Big and Build Impactful Careers
The Catholic University of Zimbabwe (CUZ) hosted a career guidance seminar on Saturday, 5 September 2026, in partnership with Terrific Technologies, bringing together students from the Bachelor of Business Management and Information Technology (BBMIT) programme and members of the University’s alumni community.
Held in the University’s Computer Laboratory, the two hour seminar provided students with practical and career focused insights designed to help them make informed decisions about their professional journeys and prepare for a rapidly changing world of work.
The session, led by Mr. John Shoko, explored important areas of career development, including career path selection, personal and professional development, excellence, continuous learning and strategies for achieving sustained growth in the workplace.
A key focus of the seminar was the importance of making deliberate career choices and continuously developing one’s skills. Students were encouraged to look beyond obtaining a degree and to consider how additional skills, professional qualifications, practical experience and a strong personal development mindset can position them for greater opportunities in the job market.
Expanding Opportunities Through Professional Certifications
Students were also introduced to a range of professional certification opportunities that can complement their academic qualifications and enhance their competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic employment environment.
The seminar highlighted certification programmes available through the University’s learning and examination centre, offered in collaboration with the University. These opportunities give students the chance to broaden their knowledge, strengthen their professional profiles and remain adaptable as industries continue to evolve.
Dream Big, Create Opportunities and Make a Difference
Beyond career preparation, the seminar challenged students to dream bigger and recognise the opportunities available to them as university students. The knowledge and skills gained at university can be used not only to secure employment, but also to create businesses, develop innovative solutions and address challenges facing communities.
Students were encouraged to think about the impact they can make through the combination of business knowledge, technology, innovation and leadership. As future professionals and entrepreneurs, they have the potential to contribute meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s development and transform the communities in which they live and work.
The Career Guidance Seminar reaffirmed CUZ’s commitment to developing graduates who are academically prepared, professionally equipped and socially conscious. Through partnerships with industry and professional organisations such as Terrific Technologies, the University continues to create opportunities that connect classroom learning with the realities of the world of work.
Students are encouraged to dream big, invest in themselves, embrace available opportunities and pursue excellence. With determination, continuous learning and a commitment to serving others, their education can become a powerful tool for creating lasting change in their communities and beyond.
