The Catholic University of Zimbabwe proudly celebrated its 23rd Graduation Ceremony on the 8th of May 2026, marking another historic milestone in the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership development and holistic education.

A total of 520 graduates from the university’s four faculties were conferred with their qualifications in a vibrant and memorable ceremony attended by members of the clergy, university leadership, government officials, parents, guardians and invited guests. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of all Catholic Bishops, whose attendance reflected the strong relationship between the university and the Catholic Church.

The university was also privileged to host Dr Paul Mavhima, Honourable Minister of Skills Audit and Development, as the Guest of Honour for the prestigious occasion.

The graduation proceedings began with Holy Mass at 0800hrs, led by the University Chaplain, Father Guide Marambanyika, together with members of the clergy. The Mass set a spiritual and reflective tone for the day, giving thanks for the achievements of the graduating class and praying for their future success.

Following the Mass and a tea break, the much-anticipated graduation ceremony officially commenced with a distinguished academic procession. The procession was led by the Registrar carrying the university mace, symbolising academic authority and tradition. The Student Representative Council leadership, including SRC President Solomon Pome and SRC Secretary Munashe Sekeramayi, followed alongside members of academic staff, members of council, representatives from the Kutama Old Boys Association (KOBA), Friends of the Catholic University of Zimbabwe (FOCUZ), Deans and other esteemed university officials. Honourable Minister Dr Paul Mavhima also joined the formal procession.

The ceremony began with the capping of the university’s three PhD graduates by the University Chancellor, Archbishop Robert Christopher Nyandoro. Individual capping was also conducted for Master’s degree graduates, First Class degree recipients and prize winners in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements, while the rest of the graduates were capped through mass capping ceremonies.

The atmosphere throughout the day was vibrant, joyful and celebratory as graduates proudly marked the successful completion of their academic journeys. Families, friends and guests gathered to witness the important milestone and celebrate the hard work, perseverance and dedication demonstrated by the Class of 2026.

The successful ceremony concluded during lunch hour, with graduates collecting their lunch packs as they departed to celebrate their well-deserved achievements with family and loved ones.

The Catholic University of Zimbabwe congratulates all graduates on this remarkable accomplishment and wishes them continued success as they embark on the next chapter of their professional and personal journeys.
