1. Background

The Catholic University of Zimbabwe Students Hostel (Private) Limited (CUZSH), herein referred to as “the Employer”, has allocated a budget for the construction of student accommodation at its Harare Campus. A portion of these funds will be used for eligible payments under the contract governed by this Request for Bids (RFB).

Disbursement of funds is subject to Bank approval and must comply with the terms of the Budget Agreement. No party other than the Bank shall derive rights or have claims to the budget proceeds, particularly in cases where payment is prohibited by Bank decision.

2. Scope of the Project

The Employer invites sealed applications for prequalification from eligible bidders for the construction of a university accommodation complex comprising the following:

• Site Preparation: Establishment of setting out levels on a sloping site.

• Accommodation Blocks: Construction of eight (8) three-storey walk-up blocks, housing 1,024 beds for both male and female students.

• Foundations: Pad foundations, mesh-reinforced ground floor slab on ground beams and floor slabs.

• Superstructure: Concrete frame with common brick wall infills under Chromadek roof on engineer-designed timber trusses.

• Internal Finishes: Face brick exterior walls; internal PVA paint on plastered walls; ceramic tiles in wet areas; granolithic floor finishes.

• Utilities: Full electrical reticulation and associated plumbing.

• Water Supply: A 10,000L tank per block to augment a central 60,000L steel water tank; an additional borehole will also be drilled.

• External Works: Pavements, sub-soil and stormwater drainage, water and sewer reticulation.
