Theme: Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development in Zimbabwe and the SADC Region

This special issue explores the diverse challenges and opportunities posed by climate change and variability, with a focus on building resilience and promoting sustainable development. We invite comprehensive research papers that address climate adaptation, mitigation, and their impact across sectors such as agriculture, water management, disaster risk reduction, policy, and governance.

Sub-Themes:

  1. Climate-Smart Agriculture and Sustainable Land Use
    Research innovative farming practices that boost resilience, improve soil health, and optimize land use sustainability.

  2. Water Management and Irrigation Development
    Explore advanced water conservation techniques, irrigation technologies, and equitable water distribution strategies in climate-vulnerable regions.

  3. Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Resilience
    Focus on community adaptation strategies, early warning systems, and integration of traditional knowledge with modern technology in disaster management.

  4. Livelihood Diversification and Economic Empowerment
    Study value chains, market trends, and inclusive business models for boosting rural economic resilience.

  5. Community-Based Conservation and Human-Wildlife Conflict Management
    Investigate strategies for effective conservation while addressing human-wildlife conflicts and their socio-ecological impacts.

  6. Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion in Climate Change
    Research the role of marginalized groups, gender dynamics, and youth participation in climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.

  7. Urban Resilience and Climate Adaptation
    Explore sustainable urban development strategies and innovative climate adaptation solutions for cities in Zimbabwe and the SADC region.

  8. Policy and Governance for Climate Action
    Analyze the role of policy, governance, and institutional frameworks in implementing climate action initiatives.

  9. Climate Change and Variability in Teaching and Research
    Discuss the integration of climate science into educational curricula and the development of research capacity across Zimbabwe.

  • Acceptance Notification: 27 October 2024
  • Conference Date: 7 November 2024
  • Full Paper Submission Deadline: 15 November 2024
  • Publication of Papers: 10 December 2024
