A Day of Wellness and Community Spirit at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe

The Catholic University of Zimbabwe on the 17th of October hosted an unforgettable Wellness Day, an event dedicated to promoting health and well-being among students, staff, and partners. The day was a perfect blend of physical fitness, mental health awareness, and community building, leaving everyone energized and inspired.

The festivities began with an invigorating Zumba session, which set the tone for the day. Students and staff alike broke into sweat as they danced with enthusiasm, creating an electric atmosphere. The cool breeze that swept across the campus added to the perfect start of what would be an eventful day.

Partners such as CIMAS, Bonvie, Friendship Bench, and esteemed medical professionals, Dr. Mukonoweshuro and Dr. Mugadza, joined the event to provide vital health insights. The wellness talks offered during the day covered critical topics, including:

  • Breast Cancer Awareness presented by CIMAS.
  • Healthy Diet Tips from Bonvie.
  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse awareness by Dr. Mukonoweshuro.
  • Dental Care Essentials provided by Dr. Mugadza.

Beyond the informative health talks, participants enjoyed a variety of indoor sports such as chess, pool, and volleyball, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition.

The highlight of the day came with a thrilling soccer match between the university’s soccer team, the Roman Flames, and a staff team. The Roman Flames displayed their skills and energy, defeating the staff team with a resounding 6-2 victory. Meanwhile, the ladies’ netball game brought equal excitement, with the students demonstrating their resilience and winning spirit.

The Wellness Day at CUZ was more than just an event—it was a powerful reminder of the importance of physical and mental well-being, community support, and health education. The day ended on a high note, leaving everyone feeling renewed, motivated, and eager for more.
