Catholic University of Zimbabwe Celebrates Youth Digital Skills Graduation

The Catholic University of Zimbabwe is proud to have hosted the graduation ceremony for over 300 youth who successfully completed the Digital Skills Program. This initiative, designed to uplift and empower vulnerable youths from Harare and Mashonaland East, including areas such as Epworth and Caledonia, plays a key role in the Government of Zimbabwe’s vision to reduce poverty by 2030.

A Transformative Partnership

The Digital Skills Program is a collaborative effort between the Government of Zimbabwe, World Vision, USAID, and the World Food Program, with the Ministry of Youth, Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training spearheading the initiative. Training took place at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe and the Harare Institute of Technology, providing participants with valuable skills for the digital economy.

Equipping Youth for the Future

Participants received comprehensive training in web development, graphic design, and digital marketing. In addition to these technical skills, the program offered mentorship and life skills sessions, aimed at equipping these young individuals with the tools they need to succeed in both their careers and personal lives.

Graduation Ceremony Highlights

The graduation event was a significant milestone, with Deputy Minister for Youth, Empowerment, Development & Vocational Training, Honourable Mupamhanga, gracing the occasion as the guest of honor. Distinguished guests from government bodies, partnering organizations, and various institutions, along with proud parents, attended the ceremony held at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe. The event marked the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, the skills these young graduates have gained will not only enhance their personal growth but also contribute to Zimbabwe’s broader economic development. By providing opportunities to the most vulnerable youth, this program is helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable future.
